History
Like other villages of the area it was founded by the Liguri Tigulli tribe, while in the Roman age it was known with the name of Segesta Tigulliorum.
The first settlement lied on the fortified island and only departing from 15th century it developed towards the alluvial plane formed by the Gromolo and Petronio streams.
Former feud of Fieschi Family it passed, after the Middle Ages and until 1797, under the dominion of the Republic of Genoa.
