Riva Trigoso shipyard, founded in 1897, is one of the flagships of Sestri Levante.
Until the World War I it was the referential shipyard for the construction of freighters and steamers for migrants transportation.
During the World War II many warships were built there, but it was seriously damaged by several bombings.
The activity started again in the postwar and it continues until now, under the property of Fincantieri. The first Italian aircraft carrier, the Cavour, was built here in 2004.
