History
Founded by the Romans with the name of Recina the village became soon a powerful centre on the coast of Paradiso Gulf.
Over the centuries, thanks also to its location by the sea and close to the Apennines, representing a good wood stockpile, Recco turned into a shipyard for the Republic of Genoa, providing the typical galleys and sail ships.
During the World War II Recco was burned to the ground by the Alleys’ bombings that also caused hundreds of deaths.
Completely rebuilt, today Recco is a renowned touristic resort on the Paradiso Gulf, and one of the Ligurian Gastronomic Capitals, thanks to the excellence of its operators and culinary traditions.
