From 20 to 30 May 2021, the Riviera International Film Festival
will be back in the now customary setting of the magical Sestri Levante
The fifth edition of the Festival dedicated to emerging under-35 filmmakers
starts again after the pandemic with a hybrid formula: ten films and as many documentaries in competition will be visible online on MYmovies.it
from 20 May and also screened in cinemas from 24 to 29 May.
From Friday 28 to Sunday 30, the final three-day event kicks off in Sestri Levante with international guests, exceptional Masterclasses and the award ceremony for the winners.
The President of the Jury will be Oscar winner Kenneth Lonergan
, who won the statuette in 2017 for the screenplay of "Manchester by the Sea".
Young people and the environment remain the two compasses of what is by far the most "rebel" Festival on the Italian scene
. This year, the common thread linking the ten films in the competition will be that of escape.
For the first time, there will also be ten documentaries
, the number of which has doubled, testifying to the increasing importance the Festival attaches to environmental issues.
Finally, the Masterclasses
which, as mentioned, will be totally free
for the first time and can be followed live (with a maximum of 80 participants in compliance with the anti-Covid-19 distancing rules) or via live streaming on the Festival's official social channels: Facebook @rivierainternationalfilmfestival
and Instagram @rivierainternationalfilmfest
