  The enthusiasm of the eighty young participants and the interest of experts and public have characterized the first edition of the ITALIANA CUP competition. The appointment for the second edition is scheduled from 9 to 13 September next, always in the Tigullio Gulf. Promoted by Italiana Assicurazioni – the insurance company belonging to Reale Mutua Group – with the technical organization of Venti&20 in partnership with Consorzio Portofino Coast, STL “Terre di Portofino”, “Area Marina Protetta” of Portofino, and the patronage of the Municipality of Rapallo, this event has received since the beginning the support of important international organizations, and many others are confirming their participation right now. Canada, South –Africa, Spain, Great Britain, Switzerland and France are the foreign guests that will challenge the Italian teams. Only juniors teams, made up of boys from 13 up to 18 years old, may participate to the sailing regattas. They are coming from all over the world and will challenge each other on board of sailing boats “Portobello 28”, designed by Judel-Vrolijk , the same architect of Alinghi, the winner of the 32° America’s Cup. During five days the teams, based in Rapallo, will challenge with the match race formula. The challenge trophy, won on 2007 by France, will be again at stake, and teams will fight until the final challenge where the two finalists will contend for the title. Peculiar of this event is the fact that teams are evenly matched. In fact sailing boats provided by the organization are identical and manned in the same way. So the winner will be the best team, the one able to show better harmony, correctness, team spirit, and to practice better strategies. Italiana Cup is not only a sport event, it is also an opportunity for Italiana Assicurazioni, partner of many undertakings connected with young people, to promote the sound values of sport such as team work, sharing, fair competition, respect for the environment , main points of the Company philosophy.
